Traditional Owners

Return to the Village is honoured to gather on Jinibara Country, at Woodfordia, on the lands of the Jinibara people — the Traditional Custodians of this place and the registered Native Title holders for the Woodford region. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and to the descendants of those who have cared for this Country for countless generations.

As a gathering inspired by Permaculture, we recognise that all regenerative futures begin with listening to and learning from the wisdom of place. We acknowledge the deep relationship the Jinibara people have maintained with Country through culture, story, observation and stewardship, and we are grateful to gather on these lands.

May our time together strengthen our connection to Earth, to community, and to the responsibility we share in caring for the generations yet to come.

Our Team

Return to the Village is being co-created by a passionate community of volunteers, practitioners, educators, artists, organisers, growers and dreamers from across Australasia. Together, we are weaving our skills, experience and love for community into a gathering that celebrates 50 years of Permaculture while helping to shape the next 50.

The event is proudly presented by Permaculture Australia, produced by Happy Earth Events, and hosted at the beautiful Woodfordia. Together with our partners, contributors and volunteers, we are creating a space for learning, connection, celebration and belonging.
