"The challenges of our time call for new ways of living, learning and belonging. APC 2027 is an opportunity to come together as a community of changemakers, dreamers, doers and future ancestors to explore what comes next and to help design a world worth inheriting."

What is the APC?
The Australasian Permaculture Convergence (APC) is the longest-running gathering of the permaculture community in our region. Since 1984, permaculture practitioners, educators, farmers, designers, activists, community leaders and curious newcomers have come together to share ideas, build relationships and explore the evolving future of permaculture.
Held every two years in a different location, the APC is much more than a conference. It is a living gathering of people united by a desire to create thriving communities, healthy ecosystems and a more regenerative future. Through presentations, workshops, discussions, storytelling, shared meals and hands-on experiences, participants connect across generations, cultures and landscapes.
Each convergence reflects the challenges and opportunities of its time, creating space for deep learning, collaboration and inspiration. Many of the projects, organisations, friendships and ideas that have shaped the Australasian permaculture movement have their roots in conversations that began at an APC.
2027 will be a particularly special year as we celebrate 50 years of permaculture and design the next 50 years together.
Whether you are a lifelong permaculture practitioner or just beginning your journey, the APC is an invitation to learn, contribute, connect and be part of a living movement that continues to grow and evolve.
"In a world that often pulls us apart, APC 2027 is an invitation to come back together. To share meals, stories, wisdom and hope. To learn from the past, celebrate the present and co-create the future. To return to the village."
APC 2027
The 2027 Australasian Permaculture Convergence will be unlike any that has come before it. Held at the iconic Woodfordia site in SE Queensland and coinciding with the celebration of 50 years of permaculture, APC 2027 is an invitation to gather, reflect, reconnect and reimagine what comes next.
For more than four decades, the APC has brought together the people, projects and ideas shaping the permaculture movement. In 2027, we honour that rich history while turning our attention toward the future. What wisdom have we gained? What challenges lie ahead? And what role can permaculture play in helping communities thrive in a rapidly changing world?
This special convergence is being co-created by a passionate national volunteer team through Permaculture Australia, together with Festival Director Kate Nottingham (the creative minds behind the Off-Grid Living Festival) and hosted at the beautiful Woodfordia village. This powerhouse team are working together to create a unique experience where participants can enjoy village life, with a week of learning, connection, celebration and relaxation unlike anything else on the permaculture calendar.
Throughout the week, the program will explore themes of community, belonging and village culture; practical skills for regenerative living; abundance, earth care and living well within nature; and the opportunities and responsibilities that await us in the next 50 years of permaculture.
Expect inspiring presentations from some of the best leaders in our fields, hands-on workshops, deep conversations, shared meals, music, art, storytelling, farm tours and countless opportunities to connect with people from across Australasia. Elders will share wisdom from decades of practice, while young people bring fresh ideas, creativity and hope for the future. First Nations voices and knowledge will help ground the gathering in deeper relationships with Country and place.
At its heart, APC 2027 is about remembering that permaculture has always been more than gardens, farms and sustainable technologies. It is about people. It is about relationships. It is about creating cultures of care, resilience and belonging. As we celebrate 50 years of permaculture, we invite you to join us in growing food, growing community, and designing the next chapter of this remarkable movement - together.

"Come and sit by the fire, walk beside the lake, share what you've learned and discover what is possible when people come together with purpose and care. For a few precious days, we'll remember what it feels like to live in a village and carry that spirit home with us."
Camping
Nestled beside the beautiful Lake Gkula (Australia's Largest All-Natural Conservation and Recreation Lake), camping at Woodfordia is an experience in itself. Wake to birdsong and mist rising from the water, spend your days learning, sharing and connecting, then gather around campfire for conversation beneath the stars.
Participants can choose between a 4-night Convergence Pass or a 7-night Full Festival Pass, with camping included onsite. Passes also include three communal vegetarian meals per day (Tuesday to Thursday) helping you to creating space to slow down, enjoy community time, share stories, build friendships and experience the true village spirit that sits at the heart of permaculture.
Whether you're camping with old friends or arriving on your own, you'll find yourself part of a welcoming community of people from across Australia and beyond. This will be a truly heart-warming experience you won't forget.
Bring your tent, caravan or camper trailer, or hire a glamping cabin, settle in beside the lake, and make Woodfordia your home for an incredible week.
For one extraordinary week, Woodfordia will become a living village of ideas, stories, skills and connection. Gather alongside permaculture pioneers, passionate practitioners, young changemakers and curious newcomers as we celebrate how far we've come, explore where we're headed, and discover what becomes possible when generations come together to learn, share and imagine a thriving future.
The Program
Each day of the Convergence will offer a rich tapestry of experiences designed to nourish the head, heart and hands. Gather in the main tent to hear from some of Australia's most inspiring voices - changemakers, regenerative farmers, community builders, deep ecological thinkers, innovators, activists, permaculture pioneers and elders whose stories, wisdom and lived experience continue to shape the movement. These are not just talks, but opportunities to explore the big questions of our time together and imagine what becomes possible when people come together with creativity, courage and care.
Across the site, smaller spaces will host a diverse mix of presentations, conversations, story circles and grassroots knowledge-sharing, while hands-on workshops invite participants to learn practical skills, experiment, create and get their hands dirty. There will be a daily program of wellness sessions by the lake as well as opportunities for art, music and collective creativity, spaces to rest and reconnect. And a vibrant Eco-Rangers Kids Club where the next generation can learn, play and belong.
Between sessions, conversations will spill onto camp chairs, shared meals and lakeside walks. New friendships will be formed, old connections renewed, ideas exchanged and collaborations sparked. Together we'll celebrate what permaculture has achieved over the past 50 years while exploring what it could become in the next 50.
This is more than a gathering. It is an invitation to return to village life for a week and experience the magic of belonging - to learn together, dream together, challenge old assumptions, share what matters most, and remember what becomes possible when we come together as a community in service to a thriving future.
