🌱 Co-Create the Village (Planning Team)

Permaculture Australia APC Circle

Join one of our year-round planning circles and help shape Return to the Village. Everyone is welcome, with online Zoom meetings and opportunities to contribute from wherever you live.

Time commitment: Flexible throughout the year with regular monthly Zoom meetings.

Included: Event ticket reserved for you and discount code given based on contributions.

🏡 Become a Villager (Full Event)

Experience the full journey by helping build, bring to life and pack down the village. Villagers join us for set-up, support the event throughout the week and stay to leave the land beautiful. It's the perfect way to immerse yourself in the community, make lifelong friendships and experience every stage of creating something extraordinary.

Dates: 14th - 29th April.

Commitment: Approximately 3-4 hours each day.

Included: Free event ticket, including camping and meals. Note - No catering during the festival weekend, meals will need to be purchased on these days.

🛠️ Build the Village (Set-Up Only)

Help transform Woodfordia into a thriving village before everyone arrives. Assist with site preparation, infrastructure, decorating, signage, landscaping and creating welcoming spaces.

Dates: 14th-19th April.

Commitment: Approximately 3–4 hours each day.

Included: 60% off event tickets.

🤝 Bring the Village to Life (During Event Volunteer)

Help create a welcoming and memorable experience for everyone who joins us. Roles include guest welcome, information, workshop setups, parking, sustainability, venue support and many other important tasks.

Dates: 19-26th April.

Commitment: Approximately 3 hours each day. And all hands on deck required Friday 23rd as we transform the site ready for the festival weekend.

Included: Free event tickets - including camping and meals. Note - No catering during the festival weekend, meals will need to be purchased on these days.

🌿 Leave the Land Beautiful (Pack-Down Only)

Join the final chapter of the village story by helping pack down the site with care and respect. It's a rewarding way to celebrate what we've created together and leave Woodfordia ready for its next gathering.

Dates: 26-29th April.

Commitment: Approximately 3–4 hours each day.

Included: 60% off event tickets.

Return to the Village is honoured to gather on Jinibara Country, at Woodfordia, on the lands of the Jinibara people — the Traditional Custodians of this place and the registered Native Title holders for the Woodford region. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and to the descendants of those who have cared for this Country for countless generations.

As a gathering inspired by Permaculture, we recognise that all regenerative futures begin with listening to and learning from the wisdom of place. We acknowledge the deep relationship the Jinibara people have maintained with Country through culture, story, observation and stewardship, and we are grateful to gather on these lands.

May our time together strengthen our connection to Earth, to community, and to the responsibility we share in caring for the generations yet to come.

Our Team

Return to the Village is being co-created by a passionate community of volunteers, practitioners, educators, artists, organisers, growers and dreamers from across Australasia. Together, we are weaving our skills, experience and love for community into a gathering that celebrates 50 years of Permaculture while helping to shape the next 50.

The event is proudly presented by Permaculture Australia, produced by Happy Earth Events, and hosted at the beautiful Woodfordia. Together with our partners, contributors and volunteers, we are creating a space for learning, connection, celebration and belonging.
